There is a phonetic phenomenon in the Hefei dialect which is distinctly different from Mandarin. In Mandarin, putting high vowels [i] and [y] and bilabial [p p~h m],middle blade-alveolar [t t~n l],coronal consonant [?] and zero initial together will form kinds of syllables which can represent a lot of words. But those words' pronunciations will change in the Hefei dialect and that is vowels [i] and [y] will change into [?] and [?].In addition, vowel [i] of the Hefei dialect comes from those words whose vowel is [i?] in Mandarin. We associate two kinds of phonetic phenomena which are different between Mandarin and the Hefei dialect with evolution of types of rhyme. So on the basis of listing all words which have apicalized, this paper sorts out types of rhyme, compares them with vowel system of medieval times and Mandarin and describes evolution of phonetic value. Then this paper speculates the initiative factor in evolution relationship of types of rhyme and the reason for apicalization by combining evolution of relevant types of rhyme and pronunciation comparison of surrounding Jianghuai Mandarin. On the other hand, during phonetic investigation we find that there are still some words which have apicalized only in young people and its vowels are [i] and [y] in Mandarin except for those words which have apicalized in old people and young people. So this paper collects phonetic materials by a survey of social dialect and conducts classification statistic to research the performance of dynamic change of apicalization at the age level and then draws a preliminary conclusion that the pronunciation difference between old people and young people is the result of continuous development of apicalization. The apicalization induced by evolution of types of rhyme is the main part which has already finished and can be represented by those words which are pronounced apical by old people and young people. But apicalization is also a strong phonetic change which still develops in the Hefei dialect and expands influence scope by analogy. However, because old people are conservatives in language use andyoung people have stronger receptivity to language change, apicalization induced by analogy mainly occurs in young people.
