| Shiyan is located in the northwest of Hubei Province, adjacent to Chongqin,Shaxi and Henan. The language life in Shiyan is quite complicated due to its location in the border of three provinces and frequent personnel exchanges. In the regionalization of dialects, the dialect scholars have long believed that the phonetic features of Northern Hubei dialect and other parts of Southwest Mandarin are quite different from the other parts of the Southwest Mandarin, based on the tones of the four tones, and are more similar to the adjacent Zhongyuan Mandarin. However, the current mainstream view is to classify the areas where Shiyan dialect is very close to the surrounding dialects such as Danjiangkou,Yunxian,Zaoyang,Gucheng,Laohekou, and Baokang as the northern part of the southwest mandarin, and the division is based on the the modern tone category of ancient tones. Some scholars have questioned this kind of classification, but because there is no corpus to support it,they have not been able to overthrow previous view that the question of the attribution of Shiyan dialect has yet to be further verified.Based on previous studies, this paper describes the phonetic sounds of Shiyan dialect in detail, sorts out the phonetic system of Shiyan dialect, and compares it with surrounding dialects, and puts forward my own thoughts on the attribution of Shiyan dialect. This research attempts to fill the gaps in the phonetic research of Shiyan dialect and provide some live corpus for the future study of northern Hubei dialect. The research object of this article is Shiyan dialect, which is limited to the urban area, excluding the five counties and one city under its jurisdiction. It mainly describes the phonetic features of Shiyan dialect. The full text is divided into six parts for discussion: Chapter One Introduction. It mainly introduces the general situation of Shiyan city’s geography and population, the current research situation and usage of Shiyan dialect, the research methods and significance of this article, and the innovations of this article. The second chapter is the phonetic system of Shiyan dialect. It mainly introduces the tonal system of Shiyan dialect, the coordinating relationship of tones, and the differences between the old and new schools. The third chapter is the homophone of Shiyan dialect. The fourth chapter is the synchronic sound change of Shiyan dialect.Mainly study the two-character tone sandhi,tri-character tone sandhi, soft tone, and Erhua in Shiyan dialect and their characteristics. The fifth chapter is the comparison between Shiyan dialect and ancient Chinese accents. From a diachronic point of view, the Shiyan dialect is compared with the ancient pronunciation, and the phonetic evolution law of Shiyan dialect is summarized. The sixth chapter compares the phonetic features of Shiyan dialect and surrounding dialects.Compare the main phonetic features of the Shiyan dialect with the Tanghe dialect in the Central Plains Mandarin area, the Wuhan dialect in the middle part of the southwestern Mandarin, and the Yunxian dialect in the north part of the southwestern Mandarin, and combine the immigration history of Shiyan to propose the attribution of the Shiyan dialect According to his opinion,Shiyan dialect is the result of a mixture of Southwest Mandarin and Central Plains Mandarin. |
