The American history curriculum has entered the university forum since the Qing dynasty and has gradually become an important part of the university's world history education during the Republic of China.This paper intends to comb the development of American history education in the period of the Republic of China from the three aspects of curriculum design,teaching material use and teaching staff,in order to deepen the understanding of the development of American history in China.The introduction briefly describes the development of American history education in the period of the Republic of China,and reviews the academic history of the related research.The main body is divided into three chapters.The first chapter describes the process of the American history course entering the history education of universities in the late Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China,and the related institutional establishment in the evolution of the new school system.Then,with important time periods as nodes,the characteristics of American history educationduring the Northern Warlords Government Period(1912-1927),the Nanjing Kuomintang Regime Period(1928-1937),the Anti-Japanese War Period and the Liberation-war Period(1938-1949)were separately discussed.The second chapter introduces the general situation of American history textbooks,and uses H.C.Hockett and Arthur M.Schlesinger's Political and Social History of the United States,C.A.Beard and W.C.Bagley's The History of American People,G.O.Trevelyan's The American Revolution as a case to specifically discuss the content,characteristics,and value of American history textbooks.The third chapter summarizes the general situation of American history teachers during the period of the Republic of China.It also conducts case studies with teachers such as Qi Sihe,Liu Chonghong,and Malone and analyzes the characteristics of American history teachers.At the end of the text,a brief table of the "American History" course at the University of the Republic of China was added.
