This report is based on the analysis of the simulated interpretation practice of President Xi Jinping's address at the World Economic Forum's Annual Meeting in 2017.Under the guidance of the interpretive theory, the author has made a comprehensive summary of the simulated interpretation practice. The World Economic Forum is a crucial platform for information exchange between China and the outside world. At the same time, the quality of the interpretation of leaders' speeches is directly related to national image. In addition, with the development of Internet and communications, leaders' conference becomes more open and transparent. Therefore, the study of interpreting strategies for leaders' speeches is of great theoretical and practical significance. This report, taking the interpretive theory as the perspective, selects Xi Jinping's speech at the WEF's 2017 Annual Meeting as the research text to start the simulated interpretation. The author then carries out an intensive and detailed analysis. The interpretive theory suggests that the interpretation includes three main processes: interpretation or exegesis of discourse,de-verbalization and reformulation. This report,by applying the interpretive theory to the simulated interpretation, finds out the problems encountered in the process of simulated interpretation and post-interpretation issues. It analyzes the interpretation of vocabulary, ancient prose and long sentences, and proposes corresponding translation strategies.
