A Report On Simulated Interpretation Of The Documentary Frederick Law Olmsted Designing America

This report is an English-Chinese simultaneous interpreting report,based on Frederick Law Olmsted Designing American.It introduces Frederick Law Olmsted's life experience,design philosophy,and main contributions.It presents artistic inspiration of many famous parks and landmark buildings.This report is the analysis and summary of the whole process of interpreting.The author uses interpretive theory to guide interpreting practice and case analysis.The report explores interpretive theory in documentary interpreting and sums up the problems during interpreting practice in order to direct future interpreting.This report consists of five parts.Part One is the task description,introducing the interpreting material and the significance of this interpreting practice.Part Two is the translation process,covering information about the speaker,background knowledge,the glossary,trial interpreting and the process.Part Three is the introduction of the overarching concepts of interpretive theory.Part Four analyzes some cases with five interpretive strategies according to interpretive theory.Part Five is the summary of the problems in the practice.The author explores the feature of interpreting documentaries and improves the interpreting ability.Meanwhile,the practice raises the understanding of landscape architecture and consciousness of preserving the landscape.
