| play an important role in the academic exchange.Audience can grasp relative main ideas and solutions by browsing abstracts.Abstracts represent the concentrated content of an article.Therefore the quality of the translation determines the frequency of reading and quoting in terms of academic communication.Different from abstracts of natural science and engineering articles,abstracts of philosophy and social science articles have special characteristics,such as high frequency of involvement of Chinese traditional cultural or historical background,many cultural loaded words or words having no equivalences in target language and so on.Different characteristics mean different purposes,and further means different translation methods and skills.Based on the analysis of characteristics,the translator,also the proofreader in the task,strictly follows the requirements and standards put forward by the publisher.“Function” and “loyalty” as principle,a mode for translation-oriented text analysis as the guidance is adopted in the proofreading.ISO 214-1976(E)and GB 6447-86 as the basic standard,the report,based on the analysis of audience and motive for communication,mainly supports using corresponding translation skills to achieve loyalty and function.At the same time,this report concludes existing problems in the proofreading of abstracts of philosophy and social science articles in this task: disordered form of original abstracts,no relative translation materials to make reference during training,and no evaluation after translation.To solve these problems,this report suggests that the establishment of fixed format,parallel texts database,as well as an evaluation group with an evaluation form are really needed,aiming to provide certain reference for the translation and proofreading of abstracts in social science and philosophy edition. |
