In China,English reading occupies an important position in English learning.However,it is still a difficult part for senior high school students all along.A lot of researchers have proved that the choice and use of reading strategies will have a significant impact on students' reading performance.But their research subjects are mainly college students.This study will take senior high school students as research participants to analyze the condition of their reading strategy application.In this study,all the 92 students are chosen from grade three students in Jincheng No.1 Senior Middle School in Shanxi province as the research participants.A reading comprehension test,a reading strategy questionnaire and an interview are mainly employed in this study to measure the relationship between students' reading strategy application and their reading performance,the differences in reading strategy use between high-score and low-score students,as well as the differences in reading strategy use between male and female students.In addition,SPSS is employed for correlation analysis,descriptive statistics and independents sample t-test.The results are as follows:1)There is a positive correlation between senior high school students' reading strategies and their reading performance.2)There are significant differences between high-score and low-score students in their reading strategies use.3)There are differences between female and male students in their reading strategies use.The results show: first of all,in order to improve students' English reading level,it is necessary to train them in reading strategies;secondly,as there are some differences between high-score and low-score students,as well as between female and male students in reading strategies use and reading performance,teachers should pay close attention to students' characteristics and teach students in accordance with their aptitude in future teaching.
