Writing is not only an important means for language learning,but also a key way for evaluating a language learning.In the present English teaching,writing is still a big problem for both teachers and students.They find it hard to express English fluently in a standard way.They fail to meet the requirement for the writing task and they fail to write in an appropriate structure and so on.The problem is especially serious for the students and teachers in senior three who are eager to raise their English grades.To solve the problem,this article tries to apply Sense Group to the English writing teaching in Senior Three in order to increase the effectiveness of writing teaching.120 students are studied in this project from two natural classes in the senior high three.The experiment class is guided by the usage of Sense Group.Meanwhile the control class is taught in the traditional way.The instruments adopted include questionnaires and writing tests.In the study,three aspects are analyzed emphatically: 1.Whether the usage of Sense Group can effectively help improve the students' writing scores,and writing ability? 2.Whether Sense Group can really help students to improve their attitude towards learning English? 3.How should English writing guided by the usage of Sense Group be organized in senior high school?The major findings in this study are as follows: A.The usage of Sense Group had a positive impact on the improvement of students English writing ability.More phrases,expressions and sentence patterns were used which could help students to write the English composition with less mistakes,as well as make their composition more reasonable and better organized.B.The usage of Sense Group helped students to have better attitude towards English.But students tend to ignore some basic writing skills,like making an outline or applying some useful phrases,expressions or sentence patterns to writing.Based on the findings in this study,suggestions are given for future English teaching: Firstly,before writing teaching,it is very important to help students to attach importance to sense groups in English learning.Secondly,it is essential to get students to memorize sense groups and guide them to use sense groups to help them fulfill the task of writing.Only by doing enough reciting of sense groups and by using sense groups in their writing can students really succeed in English writing.
