Many scholars study and explore the Jews' culture,story and their polity to meet people's common needs to explore the secret behind the Jews' success and achievements,for the most important,studying the Jews' past and current condition bears a practical and guiding significance for the Chinese nation to develop itself better.Besides,another reason why the translator chooses Jews and Power to translate is the hope to provide a different perspective-the perspective of a Jew-this book's writer for the target language readers to know the Jewish nation.Jews and Power is a book related to Jewish nation's politics and history.It is common to find cultural default,culture gap and cultural terms in the original book,which makes it difficult to activate the target language readers' schema and cognition,hence the translating strategies translator choose to use are important to help readers obtain the information from the source text,during which the standard of building the optimal relevance,the knowledge of the readers and the selection of the translating strategies should be considered by the translator based on the actual situation.Four parts are included in this report.Firstly,the translation task including the source,the author and publication of this book and the requirements for this task are introduced in the first chapter.For the second chapter,the book's style and content and translating considerations are analysed,the author's preparation for translation and the translating process are also included in this chapter.At last,under the guidance of the Relevance Theory-Based Translation Theory,the dissertation analyses the translation strategies in information default,cultural gap,lexicon and syntax translation and peculiar genres,which are chosen and evaluated from the level of reliability and validity as well as communicative and informative intention of the author.In the last chapter,the author draws a conclusion to this translation practice,finding that the problems mentioned above can be solved under the guidance of the the Relevance Theory-Based Translation Theory.
