The poetic thought of Wang Shizhen is generated in the general context of literary revivalism in Ming Dynasty, which means Wang must bring his poetic ideas on Han-Wei Dynasty into correspondence with what retro trend has claimed in principle. However, the particular context is likewise indispensable, such as the union of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism, exoteric and characteristic cultural environment in Wu Zhong region, and predecessors' contributions to poetic ideas on Han-Wei Dynasty, all of which are of great significance to Wang's idiosyncratic poetic ideas in ideological, cultural and literary way.As an avant-guard in literary archaist movement,Wang Shizhen like other renaissance theorists pays tremendous attention to poetically formal distinctions and litterateurs in Han-Wei Dynasty, through which they can make ancient poetry of Han-Wei prominent in archaism.Nevertheless,Wang in the process of poetically formal distinctions is more adept in excavating the relativity and inclusiveness among numerous forms, and Wang concerning Han-Wei writers and works has a predilection for apprehending their “natural inaction” and“detachment”.On the basis of the theory about Han-Wei poetically formal distinctions and litterateurs,Wang grasps the very essence of poetic ideas on Han-Wei Dynasty,i.e.“Ancient color”,“Involuntariness” and “Soul's genuineness”,three of which are in a progressive relationship because of different stage in development of Wang's poetic ideas.“Ancient color”,“Involuntariness” garner their nascence in Wang's early age, which represent Wang's percipience to Han-Wei poetry's regulations and styles.“Soul's genuineness” takes place in the evening of Wang's life, and is Wang's appeal for subjective initiative. The judgement on poetically formal distinctions,Han-Wei writers and works and the terminologies of Han-Wei poetic ideas holistically constitute Wang's Han-Wei poetic ideas.Wang Shizhen's poetic ideas on Han-Wei dynasty have an enormous effect on poetic course during the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties through comparative study.Hu Yinglin and Xu Xueyi,as two topping poetic theorists in the late Ming, find themselves hardly can break away from poetic traditions, and the only way out is to supplement and consummate Wang's Han-Wei poetic theory.Another outstanding theorist Wang Fuzhi, who witnessed thedisintegration of Ming Dynasty, can greatly separate himself from original context and is bound to criticize Wang's Han-Wei poetic theory and even the whole poetic environment of Ming Dynasty under the prerequisite of introspection.Accordingly,“newcomers prevail”,although Hu Yinglin,Xu Xueyi and Wang Fuzhi stand in different positions, their theories are maturer and more tolerant than Wang Shizhen's poetic ideas on Han-Wei Dynasty.
