Inhibitory control plays an important role in individual's cognitive function.In the field of mechanical processing,high skilled students can precisely process workpieces,control machinery and have higher ability in solving problem.So,in the field of mechanical operation skills,whether the higher the skill,the better the inhibitory control? The studies about cognitive style as an individual difference variable,have shown that the field-independent individuals perform well in inhibitory control than the field-dependence.The aim of our research using the ERP technology is to discusse the difference in inhibitory control from behavioral and electrophysiologicals aspects in college students majoring in mechanical processing with different skill level and different cognitive style.Experiment1 uses the Go/Nogo paradigm combining ERP technology,to discusse the difference in response inhibition in students with different skill level and different cognitive style.The results of behavioral data showed that: The main effect of stimuli's type is significant,the accuracy is higher in Go than Nogo condition;The main effect of skill level is significant,the accuracy is higher in higher skilled individuals,but at the expense of the reaction time.ERP data shows that N2,P3 components under the condition of Nogo amplitude are significantly greater than Go,which showed that subjects under the condition of Nogo feel greater conflict and then restrain it.Experiment2 uses the Stroop task combined with ERP technology,to discuss in high or low conflict anticipation,the difference of interference suppression in students with different skill level and cognitive style.Behavior data show that: the main effect of stimulus type is significant,the accuracy is higher and the reaction time is faster under consistent condition than inconsistent condition;the main effect of conflict expectation is significant,the accuracy is higher and the reaction time is faster under high conflict condition than low conflict condition;the main effect of skill level is significant,the accuracy is higher in high skilled participants but at the expense of the reaction time;the interaction effect of stimulus type and conflict expectation is significant,under the inconsistent stimulus condition,the accuracy is higher and the reaction time is faster in high conflict expectation.ERP data shows that,the main effect of stimulus type in LPC amplitude is significant,the amplitude in inconsistent trials are larger than consistent trials,which shows that the high conflict expectation improves the motivation of participants,and then improves the interference suppression.Inconsistent conditions need more cognitive resources to resolve conflict.Experiment3 using the variant of Flanker task,distinguishes between stimulus conflict and reaction conflict,combining ERP technology to discuss different stages of the interference suppression with different skill level and cognitive style.Behavior data shows that the main effect of stimulus type is significant,the accuracy is lower and the reaction time is slower in response conflict than stimulus conflict;the main effect of skill level is significant,the accuracy is higher in technicians than senior mechanics,and there is no significant difference in reaction time.ERP data shows that,the interaction effect is significant in P3 amplitude between stimulus types and cognitive style.In stimulus conflict condition,the P3 amplitude in field-dependent individuals are higher than field-independent individuals,which shows that the interference suppression in technicians are better than senior mechanics,and field-independent individuals are better than field-dependences.The field-dependences need more cognitive resources to inhibite stimulate conflict.This research from two aspects of response inhibition and interference suppression with ERP technology examines the differences in inhibitory control of individuals with different cognitive style and different skill level.Results show that in the Flanker task,the technicians perform better than senior mechanics in interference suppression,and field-independences perform better in stimulus conflict than field-independences.
