Research On Kobo Abe's “The Woman In The Dunes”

Kobo Abe is the representative writer of the literary world after the Second World War.Kenzaburo Oe and Kobo Abe were regarded as the representatives of Japanese existentialism literature.The Woman in the Dunes,published in 1962 and was the representative work of Abe.This work has been translated into more than 20 languages and has been awarded the Yomiuri Literary Prize and the best foreign literature prize in France.Not only in Japan,but also in foreign countries is highly evaluated,by this opportunity,Abe has become an international writer.Therefore,scholars from Japan and abroad have studied this work from various angles.The main research perspective including the allegorical novel,rhetoric technique,feminism,existentialism,etc.In this thesis,Li Jianjun's The Research of rhetoric is applied to the rhetorical research of “The Woman in the Dunes”,and tries to explain the rhetorical devices in this work in detail.This thesis is composed of three parts,the introduction,the main part of the thesis and the final chapter.In the introduction,the motivation and purpose of the research are introduced,and the research results are summarized.The main part of the thesis is composed of three chapters.In the first chapter,it introduced the theoretical framework(macro rhetoric and micro rhetoric devices),and the rhetorical characteristics.In the second and third chapters,we explored the rhetorical methods used in The Woman in the Dunes through macro rhetoric and micro rhetoric.The final chapter summarized the significance of the rhetoric research of the novels,and puts forward the limitation and expectation of this thesis.The innovation point was grasped the novel from the perspective of the macroscopic view,and integrated all the novels of Kobo Abe in order to find out the commonalities.From the perspective of micro rhetoric,this thesis studies the rhetorical skills in this work,and hopes to serve as a reference for the literature lovers who want to study this work.
