English learning in primary school is getting more and more attention.The English Curriculum Standards in the Phase of Compulsory Education(2011 edition)clearly states that stimulating students' interest in learning English should be put in the first place.At the same time,learning interest will have an impact on learning outcomes and academic performance.However,due to various reasons,the current situation of primary school students' English learning interest is not optimistic.Traditional teaching pays more attention to knowledge transfer and language skill training,and pays too much attention to the results,while ignoring the psychological characteristics and communication environment of learners in the process of internalizing knowledge.In order to mobilize the interest of primary school students,some educators began to try to integrate the elements of drama into English teaching.It is a teaching method and education model with the main purpose of education and drama.Its use in teaching is conducive to cultivating students' comprehensive quality and various abilities,which can fully mobilize students' enthusiasm and creativity,cultivate and stimulate students' interest in learning.Based on drama in education related theories,this paper mainly studies the application of drama in education in primary school English teaching,and mainly studies from two aspects of learning interest and learning effect.The main research questions of this research are:1.How to carry out drama in education activities in the primary school English classroom?2.How can drama in education motivate students' interest of learning English in primary school?3.Can drama in education help students improve the students' academic performance?This paper first discusses the feasibility and importance of the application of drama in education in primary school English teaching,and then uses questionnaire survey,classroom observation method and experimental method to verify the teaching of drama in education in primary school English teaching.The main research contents include: whether the method can stimulate the interest and enthusiasm of primary school students to learn English,and the specific application strategies.Based on a certain teaching practice,the teacher tries to integrate the concept of drama in education into English teaching through a series of teaching experiments.Through a semester of English teaching experiment for two classes of grade 5 students in this school,some results have been achieved.The investigation results show that drama in education plays a positive role in stimulating and cultivating students' interest in learning,improving the effect of English teaching and students' English performance.This paper uses the theory of drama in education to conduct teaching experiments,analyze and reflect on the experimental results,hoping to provide some references for the teaching of peers.
