The latest curriculum standard(2017)sets the teaching goal of elementary education English class as developing the comprehensive language competency of students,and advocating experience,practice,participation,cooperation and communication during learning,which emphasizes the importance of cooperative learning.The cooperative learning as a teaching theory,originated in western countries,localized in China in recent years.The purpose of this thesis is to study the application of cooperative learning in primary school English class.The research methods include experiment,questionnaire,interview,class observation,and so on.The results show that the experimental class which receives cooperative learning presents an obvious progress in academic performance;the overall learning attitude of the experimental class has been improved,and students have stronger interest in English learning,the class activeness have been enhanced,and awareness of autonomous learning and cooperation has been improved as well.In the thesis,the author designs the cooperative learning activities based on Constructivism Theory,Goal Reward Structure Theory,Social Interdependence Theory and Zone of Proximal Development Theory.Each cooperative learning class consists of four steps: preview,teacher's instruction,cooperative learning and evaluation.The author also examines the problems in practice,and proposes solutions based on the author's consideration and other teachers' viewpoints. |
