Autonomous learning is contrast with the traditional method of learning,it should be a kind of modern learning style and usually is refers to the active consciousness of independent learning.Around the learning objectives students always choose the autonomous learning method in the class by the teacher's guidance.The students can monitor the learning process and do the self-evaluation learning as a result.The teachers always lead the students to do some creative activities to achieve learner's autonomy development.Independent learning is not only conductive to the improvement of students' English learning level,but also the foundation and motivation of students' lifelong learning and all-round development.Autonomous learning ability refers to the ability to take students as the subject of learnin g,make reasonable use of learning opportunities in independent learning,cultivate cooperativ e learning ability in cooperative learning,and finally form the ability of analyzing,exploring,practicing,questioning,creating and other methods to achieve learning goals in the learning a ctivities inside and outside the class.This article first puts forward questions,explains the theoretical research achievements of independent learning at home and abroad points out the status of autonomous learning in the junior middle school,and reflects the importance of research.The third part of the article introduces the connotation and characteristics of autonomous learning,and the fourth part su mmarizes the status and characteristics of autonomous learning in junior middle school throug h the empirical investigation.In the fifth part of this article,it elaborated how to build students' autonomous learning ability by training in the class and doing extra-curricular activities to cultivate autonomous learning mode.The empirical research,theoretical research and teaching through self-study fully verified the autonomous learning ability for middle school students' English learning the efficient function and lifelong learning.The cultivation of students' autonomous learning ability should not be confined to the classroom teaching,the cultivation of class teaching and extracurricular extension shall be cultivated organically and complement each other,so as to help students build the virtuous cycle of junior middle school English autonomous learning model.By inside and outside stimulate students' independent consciousness,then we can strengthen the students' ability of independent.
