| Cooperation refers to the process that two or more students or groups cooperate with each other in order to achieve common goals.Group cooperative learning is a kind of teaching method under the background of class teaching system.Based on the learning group,the teachers guide the cooperation of the team members in classroom learning,which transform the learning competition between students into "intra group cooperation"and "group competition".In the case of big classes,it can be more oriented to the whole,and the participation of all the students is helpful to the development of English teaching activities.As many students are not interested in English learning and the English teaching is not efficient in our school,this paper attempts to carry out English teaching through group cooperative learning mode,and try to find out whether it will improve the students’English academic performance and learning interest.The experimental object of this article is the students in the Number Two Middle School of Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone.First of all,we have to know the current situation of students’ English learning through questionnaire survey.Then the relevant comparative experiments were designed,group cooperative learning was taken in the experimental class,and the traditional teaching model was adopted in the control class.First,the experimental class was divided into groups.Then,we should do group training and make group rules.During the experiment,the students in a group need to cooperate with each other in different periods of a class in different tasks.Besides,we take the questionnaire survey and interview to understand the status of the group cooperative learning and the students’ attitude to the group cooperative study in the course of teaching experiment.At the end of the experiment,the results of questionnaires and interviews are analyzed,and the collected data is compared and analyzed to clarify whether group cooperative learning could improve students’ interest and achievement in English learning.Finally,the teaching experiment was concluded:Group cooperative learning can improve the students’ academic achievements because it is suitable for English language learning.We need to communicate and cooperate a lot in language learning,so group cooperative learning can largely improve the efficiency of English classroom teaching.Besides,language learning needs constant review and consolidation.There are many learning tasks every day and we can finish them by working in a group.Group cooperative learning can also improve the students’ learning interest.As the students who are not good at English have got good grades,and they can catch up with other classmates,they like English study for they experience the joy of learning English.What’s more,the students can improve their abilities by taking part in different kinds of learning tasks in a group,and they also have better relationship with classmates.Thus,the students’ interest in learning English naturally increases.This paper also puts forward some suggestions for the future teaching,for example,attention should be paid to the cooperative learning opportunity,the form of team learning,and cooperative learning evaluation method.Teachers should also carefully design and allocate the teaching tasks and evaluate the results of the group cooperation.This paper finally summaries the main findings and shortcomings of this teaching experiment and more work should be done for further improvement in the future research. |
