As modern computer technology develops,the corpus becomes more and more closely integrated with education.This thesis discusses the effects of the corpus-based English vocabulary teaching on senior high students' vocabulary learning.First,what are the effects of the corpus-based English vocabulary teaching on the vocabulary breadth of senior high school students?Second,what are the effects of the corpus-based English vocabulary teaching on the vocabulary depth of senior high school students?Third,what are the effects of the corpus-based English vocabulary teaching on the vocabulary collocation of senior high school students?In this study,90 students from two classes 7 and 8 of Rugao No.1 Middle School were selected as subjects,and the controlled class was Class 7 Grade One and the experimental class was Class 8 Grade One.Class 7 still used the traditional vocabulary teaching mode.Teachers used the vocabulary in Module 3 of Oxford Senior High School English to teach the usage of target words.The experimental class used a corpus-based English vocabulary teaching mode.Teachers first provided students with an index from the corpus,and used the index function(KWIC)to show the changing forms,collocation forms,fixed phrases and special forms of the target words in different contexts.Then the teacher asked students some questions to broaden their language horizons and diverge their thinking.Before and after the vocabulary teaching,the two classes were tested twice in terms of vocabulary breadth,depth and collocation,namely,pre-test and post-test.According to the vocabulary in Module 3,the scores of two tests were used as the original data.SPSS 18 statistical software was used for T-test analysis.There is no significant difference between the two pre-tests.But there is a significant difference between the two post-tests.T-test analysis shows that the output of Class 8 in vocabulary breadth,depth and collocation,is significantly better than that of Class 7.Therefore,corpus is an ideal tool and method for vocabulary teaching.First,it promotes students' mastery of vocabulary breadth.Second,it makes learners pay more attention to the study of vocabulary depth knowledge.Third,it makes them collocate vocabulary more accurately in a variety of contexts.Through the research,the author has three inspirations and Reflections:First,from the perspective of English vocabulary teaching,the rich content of corpus has changed the dull English classroom into a lively,interactive and dynamic one.Second,corpus-based vocabulary teaching presents three-dimensional images of English vocabulary,which impresses the learners,in vocabulary depth and long-term memory.Third,the abundant contexts provided by corpus can make up for the traditional vocabulary teaching.It overcomes the interference of mother tongue.Students can correct their inappropriate usage in language collocation,making it easier to listen and read in English,and express themselves more clearly in speaking and writing.Students develop their interest in vocabulary learning and are confident in English vocabulary learning.
