Translation of Dunhuang cultural terms is part of the project sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Translation:Construction and Application of C-E&E-C Term Bank of the Dunhuang Culture(No.2016TPA01)and administered by the Translation Centre of Gansu Province. It covers a variety of Chinese cultures including religions, dance and music and TCM etc.The translator is convinced that Cultural Schemata Theory provides a wise solution to translating an accurate and acceptable version of ST.By analyzing papers by Xu Dan and other scholars, the translator has found three features of CST directing the translation work, namely, similarities between cultures, extensiveness of culture and continuity of culture.Through case analysis, the author reveals the details about how CST is applied and offers corresponding charts for more direct understanding.Under the guidance of the CST feature of similarity, the translator translated with the help of Latin expression and terms of TT;under the guidance of the CST feature of extensiveness, the translator used Chinese pinyin and Japanese Rome phonetic annotation;Under the guidance of the CST feature of continuity, the translator took the example of evolvement of TCM cultural schemata in western peoples'mind to illustrate how continuity enables trans-culture translation.
