Polychrome painting is one of the most important methods of architectural surface decoration in China's history.Previous researches mostly concentrated on the abundant painting remains in the Northern China and South Jiangsu area,as Zhejiang is considered as a small part attached to South Jiangsu area due to its gap above the quantity and quality of paintings. However,Information from field investigation shows that polychrome paintings have different crafts and disease characteristics in Zhejiang, which means the existing conservation strategy may not suit Zhejiang as well. This research attempt to simulate the traditional crafts of polychrome paintings without plaster layer in Zhejiang on the basement of documentary records and investigation cases, and subject the prepared samples to the aging cycle to show different disease characteristics under different aging conditions and different crafts.Through this the study hope to provide a clearer reference for the conservation and restoration of polychrome paintings in current Zhejiang.
