English writing is one of the important skills that English learners need to master.However,some teachers spend a lot of time on words and grammars teaching while they use less time on writing teaching.Even if students have gained a large number of words and grammars,their English writing levels have not been greatly improved.Thus,a large number of scholars have carried out studies on English writing.There are studies showed that the pedagogy of multiliteracies is helpful on student's writing learning.Therefore,based on the previous research on writing,the researcher put forward two research questions:(1)What are the effects of the pedagogy of multiliteracies on college English writing teaching?(2)What are the changes of students' attitudes and interests towards college English writing?This thesis is about the application of the pedagogy of multiliteracies in college English writing teaching.During 12-week experimental teaching,the researcher selects two classes in a university of Liaoning Province.The total number of the two classes is 60.Students in the two classes are all majored in finance.One of the classes is the experimental class accepting the pedagogy of multiliteracies,and the other as a control class,receiving traditional writing teaching methods.The researcher adapts a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods.The research instruments used in this thesis are tests,questionnaires and interview,which are applied to answer the two research questions.The data from the research instrumentsare analyzed by SPSS 17.0.The study illustrates that the pedagogy of multiliteracies has a great effect on college English writing.The post-test shows that the students in the experimental class have significantly improved their total writing points.Students' compositions have changed a lot on content,organization,and writing proficiency part.In addition,the results of the questionnaires and interview show that students' interest and attitude towards English writing has also been greatly changed.The study also gives some suggestions for college English writing teaching.
