Robert Schumann has created a large number of classical piano works with his unique and rich creative techniques.Fantasy in C Major Op.17 was written in 1836.It was at the height of power and splendour of Schumann's piano creation.Its bold and free musical structure,rich and changeable inner sentiment and excellent performing techniques were called the peak works of the Romantic Period.This paper mainly discusses from three aspects: Firstly,an overview of Schumann,the work and Fantasy;Secondly,analysis of the first movement of the work;Finally,this paper analyses the three core materials of the first movement of the work: ‘Clara Theme',‘Far away lover Theme' and ‘Legendary Theme',as well as the dual musical images of ‘Florestan' and ‘Eusebius',and combines the creative techniques of the work to analyze the performance treatment,in order to maximize the understanding of Schumann's creative ideas and music style,so as to better grasp the performance of this work.
