During the period of the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China,there was a"great change in the three thousand years."In that era,war was turbulent with various new ideas introduced,Chinese feudal rule fell apart.in addition the ideology and culture faced the same threat as well.The country was in danger as well as Buddhism.Therefore,the people from all walks of life had dedicated themselves in this campaign to save the nation.Saving Buddhism and saving China had been a strong stream of that times.Li Bingnan was the one who was involved.Li Bingnan was a special historical figure that run through the late Qing Dynasty,the Republic of China and the new era.At the same time,he was also a person who made it to connect the two sides of the Taiwan Strait.He had the dual status of Buddhists and government officials.On the mainland,he spared no effort to explore the way to save the country and the people,and meanwhile he also practiced the Mahayana Buddhism spirit.After entering Taiwan,he created a large number of Buddhist undertakings and public welfare undertakings under extremely difficult circumstances.He made great contributions to Taiwan Buddhism.This paper is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction part.It introduces the origin of the research,the research summary,the purpose and significance of the research,which is to pave the way for the full text.The second chapter is the overview of the life of Li Bingnan.It introduces Li Bingnan in three parts according to the time and space order,which was the period of adolescence,entering the official career,returning to the Yinguang,floating to the sea and setting up a practice.The third chapter introduces the origin of Li Bingnan's Buddhist thought as well as his Sukhavati thoughts and practical activities to reveals Li Bingnan's great contribution to Taiwan's Buddhism.Li Bingnan was born in a family that respected Confucianism.He also studied the four rules of Zen Buddhism in the field of Buddhism.In the end,he went to the Pure Land.Therefore,the fourth chapter focuses on the introduction of Li Bingnan's Confucianism and Sukhavati thoughts from the perspectives of Buddhism and Confucianism.
