This thesis investigates the consistency of semantics and prosody in consecutive interpretation from the perspective of information structure and semantic translation theory.Based on the audio file and the text of the PRC foreign minister Wang Yi's reply to the international reporters on China's foreign policy and external relations in the Fourth Session of the Twelfth National People's Congress, the author analyzes the information structure and acoustic parameters(duration(ms),intensity(dB),mean FO(Hz),FO range(ST))of target words and finds that there is a consistency of semantics and prosody between the original(Chinese)speech and the target(English)interpretation. The semantic and prosody features of the Chinese version also can be seen in the English version. The author expects this thesis provides a reference directing to learning, teaching and assessment of translation and interpretation. It may be helpful to pave the path for further research on how to make a comprehensive understanding of information and meaning that the speaker intends to convey. It also puts forward a higher demand to interpreters to take prosody into consideration in order to improve the quality of interpretation, specifically taking the consistency of semantics and prosody as an indicator to assess the quality of interpretation.
