English Course Standard for Senior School Students(2017)states that language skills are one of the six elements of English course content,including listening,speaking,reading,viewing,and writing.Writing is one of the components of language skills,and it is a key time to stimulate students' writing interest,cultivate writing abilities and shape writing literacy in high school.Therefore,teachers' writing teaching in high school is crucial for students' English learning.The writing classroom teaching of high school teachers plays an important guiding role,which will inevitably affect students' thinking ability,language ability,and writing achievements.However,there are many problems in the current high school English writing teaching,such as poor writing teaching effect,insufficient writing ability of students,etc.And it is urgent to introduce a new writing teaching mode to change the status quo.Therefore,in order to effectively solve the problems in writing teaching,it is necessary to apply a more effective English writing teaching mode.The famous teaching expert from British Jeremy Harmer proposed the ESA teaching mode based on the 3P teaching mode,which further improve and develop the English teaching mode.ESA model is a kind of new model including three elements:engage,study,and activity.One advantage of the ESA writing teaching mode is the flexible.Teachers can not only adjust teaching strategies according to actual situations in the writing class,but also creatively organize all kinds of activities to meet the learning needs of students.At the same time,the model is a learner-centered teaching model.Throughout the teaching process,teachers,as their guides,provide language support and help students with difficulties in writing,which is conducive to independent writing and freedom expression.Besides,the model also emphasizes conscious input and efficient output.To this end,the researchers conducted a three-month teaching practice in Dazhou Middle School,applying the EAS teaching model to high school English writing classes in order to improve high school writing teaching effect and make it more new vital.By comparing the questionnaires before and after the experiment,the results of personal interviews and test results,the following conclusions are as follows: Firstly,thewriting classroom under the ESA teaching mode can cultivate and develop students' interest in English writing;Secondly,ESA teaching model can enhance students' awareness of using writing strategies,and encourage students to use them to solve problems encountered in the writing process or to think about the content,words,grammar,logic,structure,emotions and other elements of writing;Thirdly,the ESA writing teaching model is more effective than traditional teaching methods in improving students' writing achievements.The research in this paper has certain enlightenment to teachers' writing teaching:in the writing classroom under the ESA teaching mode,firstly,teachers should pay attention to students' writing and learning interests.Secondly,teachers should guide students to summarize writing strategies and skills in the stage of input,study and application.Meanwhile,teachers offer some supplementary instructions for students to raise awareness and master the application;finally,teachers should provide selective and targeted writing guidance for students with different writing foundations.In short,with experimental research,this study is to explore whether ESA teaching mode can stimulate students' writing interest,enhance students' use of writing skills and improve writing performance.Research tools such as questionnaires,interviews and tests are used to assist the research,and the research results are obtained,and the teaching inspiration is proposed.However,it can be still found that the research has many shortcomings,such as limited research time,small sample size,and so on.Therefore,aimed at this field,researchers need to be further strengthened and improved.
