A Study Of Tragic Style Of Schubert Vocal Music Suite "Winter Journey"

As an important musical genre,art songs are widely favored by the public with their beautiful melodies and poetic expressions.Franz Schubert(1797-1828)was a composer in the early Romantic period.He created more than 600 art songs in his short life.His music fairly blended classicism and romanticism,and also perfectly combined poems with music,and the vocal music with piano,by which he created a new era for the development of art songs.This paper studies the music ontology in terms of tragic source and images on vocal Divertimento the Winter Journey,and analyzes the tragic coloring of specific works out of the Winter Journey in the hope of reflecting Schubert's tragic life.It is consisted of four parts.Part one is the introduction of the paper which analyzes the current research status of the Winter Journey in the field of social science through collecting periodical documents,interpreting previous research ideas,summarizing research results and strategies.In the second part,it explores the tragic images in this work by analyzing characters and descriptions of the scenery as well as mental activities of the leading character.In the third part,the author analyzes the source of the tragedy of the Winter Journey from the perspective of Schubert's growing environment,the age features,his own life experiences and physical conditions in his late years.In the fourth part,it explores the tragic style of this work on the basis of music analysis of the Winter Journey,and also deeply analyzes Schubert's way of composition in expressing the tragedy from the aspects of melody,musical form and mode,beat,rhythm,speed and strength.In short,this paper summarizes Schubert's tragic composing way through exploring his vocal divertimento the Winter Journey in an attempt to find out what made this tragic style into being and the far-reaching influences as well as the values it contributed to later generations.
