Listening,speaking,reading and writing are four basic skills in the process of English learning.However,there are still many problems in English writing teaching in senior high school,such as the single teaching method,unsatisfactory teaching effects and so on.Therefore,it is necessary to find a method to effectively enhance students' interest and improve their writing abilities.Mind Mapping is an effective thinking tool that helps students come up with ideas,collect materials,and organize information to visualize their thinking.Therefore,this study applies Mind Mapping to English writing teaching in senior high school,in order that this teaching method can motivate students' writing interest and improve their writing skills.This thesis mainly find the answers of the following two questions:(1)What are the effects of Mind Mapping on senior high school students' English writing proficiency?(2)What are the changes of students' attitudes towards English writing after Mind Mapping teaching? Therefore,the researcher carried out a three-month Mind Mapping teaching experiment in two classes in a Senior High School in Shenyang.The experimental class had 43 students who were taught Mind Mapping in English writing class.Meanwhile,the control class had a total of 42 students,and the class was still used the traditional writing teaching method.In order to ensure the effectiveness of this research,the author adopted the following instruments,such as questionnaires,interview,pre-test and post-test.Through analyzing the research results,the researcher found that writing scores of the experimental class was obviously higher than the control class.Compared with the traditional teaching method,Mind Mapping can motivate the writing enthusiasm of students and can active the atmosphere of classroom,so that students' interest and attitudes towards English writing improved greatly.In addition,students in the experimental class no longer thought that writing was a difficult and boring thing,and they were willing to devote themselves to the classroom of writing,and their writing skills and performance improved a lot as well.
