Marxism How To Be Absorbed And Developed In Zizek's Film Theory

This paper is a study on Marxism how to be absorbed and developed in Zizek's film theory.Due to the socialist nature of Slovenia,Zizek has a deep foundation of Marxist theory from an early age,and he also considers himself to be a consistent Marxist.However,in film study,because of the clear Lacan style in Zizek's film theory,his role of Marxists has been in a neglected state for a long time.This paper attempts to clarify the influence context of Marxism to Zizek's film theory,analyzes how the Zizek's film criticism concept absorbs and develops Marxism from different historical periods.This paper totally has three parts:Part I,the assimilation and development of Marxism in Zizek's film theory.Its manifestations are as follows:(1)Zizek puts forward the theory of ideological fantasy in accordance with the “falsity of ideology” of Marx,reveals the ideological operation principle which hiding the real as the core by criticizing the film.(2)Based on the concepts of “Symptom” and “Jouissance” of Lacan restated by Marx's theory of “fetishism”,Zizek analyzed how they support fantasy,interpret fantasy,and then cross fantasy to achieve the first meet between people and the real.(3)According to Marx's dialectical thinking on the form of surplus value,Zizek put forward gaze dialectics and suture criticism,these two methods lead people to encounter the real,which creates the possibility to break the old semiotic order and rebuild the new order,and becomes an important part of Zizek's“parallax” dialectics.Part II,analyze the assimilation and development of Frankfurt School in Zizek's film theory.Its manifestations are as follows:(1)On the basis of the alienation theory of Frankfurt School,Zizek divided “alienation” into two types: constitutive alienation and constituted alienation by combining psychoanalysis theory,enriched the extension of alienation theory of Frankfurt School.(2)Zizek developed Frankfurt School's ideas of the ideological function in popular culture,and the thinking on mass passivity issue,broke the binary opposition on the basis of Lacan's subjectivism,established paradoxical thinking likes Mobius strip.From a perspective of psychoanalysis,Zizek expanded the cultural criticism of Frankfurt School.Part III,interpret the relationship between Zizek and Laclau,Mouffe's Post-Marxism,analyze the criticism an development of Post-Marxism in Zizek's film theory.Its manifestations are as follows:(1)Analyze the development of Laclau and Mouffe's“hegemony articulation” theory,and criticism on “empty field universality” theory in Zizek's film theory(2)Analyze the Post-Marxism how to become into Lacanian Post-Marxism by Zizek.Through the criticism of Post-Marxism of Laclau and Mouffe,Zizek revealed there is no foundation in the Post-Marxism theory,and proved the material attributes of the real by confronting the foundation nihility of Post-Marxism with the real in Lacan theory.(3)Zizek put forward the film materialism,consolidating the fundamental materials of the real in the film.On the basis of loyalty to the spirit of Marxism,Zizek proves the Lacanian Marx materialist thought,and thus develops the Post-Marxism.
