In April of the 20th year of Wanli(1592),the Japanese troops landed in Korea Dynasty from Busan and Launched a war of aggression against Korea Dynasty, which we called it "The Imjin War".Korea Dynasty had been at peace for a long time and its military had been sluggish,so it had lost most of its territory in a short period time. The Ming Dynasty,in response to Korea Dynasty's request for help, led troops to rescue them.Meanwhile,Nurhaci submitted a letter to the Ming Dynasty expressing his willingness to aid Korea Dynasty and resist Japanese pirates. However,Korea Dynasty questioned the motives of Jianzhou Jurchen and rejected Nurhaci's request.Thereafter,Nurhaci had taken advantage of the opportunity to stay away from the war and vigorously developed the Jianzhou Jurchen. Therefore, this paper focuses on the development of Jianzhou Jurchen and explores the relationship between the rise of the Later Jin Dynasty and the Imjin War.In this paper, the Imjin War was taken as the dividing point to discuss the development of Jianzhou Jurchen before, during and after the Imjin War.Before the Imjin War,Jianzhou Jurchen was under the dual control of the Ming Dynasty and Korea Dynasty. However,in the 16th year of Wanli(1588),Nurhaci's strength improved after he completed the unification of the five states.During the Imjin war(1592?1598),Jianzhou Jurchen obtained economic development through tribute trade and horse market trade, which laid the foundation for the growth of military strength. In the Gule Mountain War,Jianzhou Jurchen victory over nine allied forces, which reversed the situation of Jianzhou Jurchen and Hercynian Jurchen, and the military strength increased. In addition, during the war with the Japanese, the economic and military strengths of the Ming Dynasty and Korea Dynasty were depleted, which decreased their control over Jianzhou Jurchen. Therefore, after the Weiyuan incident, the Korea Dynasty had some fears about the strength of the Jianzhou. After the Imjin War(1598-1619),the Ming Dynasty and Korea Dynasty were feeble and incapable to control the Jianzhou Jurchen.Nurhaci began to subdue Hercynian Jurchen,Savage Jurchen and other tribes, and established the Later Jin Dynasty regime. In the 47th year of Wanli,Jianzhou Jurchen defeated the Ming Dynasty in the Battle of Sarhu, which became a famous example of the weak overcoming the strong. After that, the strength of both sides changed fundamentally and the Ming Dynasty turned from prosperity to decline.Nurhaci completed the reunification of the Jianzhou Jurchen, which marked the rise of the Later Jin Dynasty as a new regime and changed the political pattern of the East Asia.
