| Tihis paper adopts the method of combining quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis,selects news reports from the World Internet Conference official website and China Daily from 2014 to 2017,and builds a specialized corpus.After careful data collection,the corpus is coded and processed with the help of manual annotation,and supplemented by the corpus statistical software WordSmith Tools 5.0 to perform the data analysis including the general statistical features of text,word frequency statistics,keyword statistics and collocation statistics.This research aims at the Chinese national image construction by using Attitude System in Appraisal Theory to analyze the attitudinal resources in news reports,and interprets the images of China in the World Internet Conferences and the construction mode as well as the significance from the perspective of linguistics.This paper mainly studies and answers three questions:(1)What kinds of Chinese national images have been constructed in the World Internet Conferences?(2)How are the Chinese national images constructed by means of news discourse?(3)What is the significance of Chinese national image construction in the global cyberspace affairs?This paper has found that?(1)China has molded the“cooperative and friendly”image,"active and innovative" image,"open and sharing" image,and"nuilti-developmental" image during the World Internet Conferences;(2)China has adopted the discourse construction mode to shape its images,such as subject-predicate structure,verbs or phrases to express willingness,determination,expectation,proposal and planning;(3)The significance of constructing the national images is to convey the active voice to the world that China welcomes all countries to ride the fast train together for the development of the internet and digital economy through its own efforts. |
