A Study On Netizens’ Comments Of Bursty Events In Chinese And American Official Reports

At the age of Internet Plus,Weibo and Twitter,as fast ways of acquiring information,are welcomed by a large majority of people and they own a wide range of users.Compared with traditional media of newspaper,netizens are quite active in Weibo and Twitter,which achieves communications and interactions of both sides.Under the guidance of stance-taking theory,the thesis explores how netizens at home and abroad achieve their stance-taking and summarize differences and similarities of their patterns with qualitative and quantitative research methods.Through investigating netizens comments,there are some findings.First and foremost,netizens’ comments of Chinese or English news focus on disparate points,for example,Chinese netizens’ comments mainly discuss the absence of main characters’,descriptions in the news,while English netizens’,comments concentrate on non-pertinence of the news.Secondly,both Chinese and English netizens query inappropriate words of news and they tend to apply rhetorical questions to strengthen their stance-taking.What’s more,there exist differences in the stance-taking models of Chinese and English comments.Compared with Chinese patterns,the patterns of English netizens comments are more abundant.In addition,the thesis also summarizes some stance markers in Chinese and English comments,which could achieve netizens’ stance-taking.Among them,some words or phrases have changed their original semantic meanings under the circumstances of interactive context,so this linguistic phenomenon offers us an idea that it is better and precise to consider speakers’ stance-taking with the help of interactive views.Through illustrating research findings,it is obvious to find out that appropriate and exact expressions in the official reports accord with netizens’ expectations most.Meanwhile,the research findings could also provide reference for official news reports with internet public opinions from linguistic perspective.
