Using Films To Construct Intercultural Sensitivity In Sisu Chinese Students:An Exploratory Approach

Based on the theoretical framework of media ecology in communication field,this paper made a pilot study combining quantitative and qualitative approach through the collection of questionnaires(N=127).This thesis probes into the effect of film viewing behavior on the audience in eight aspects,including the change of views of cultural groups,countries,historical events,celebrities,the stimulation of career interest,the gain of emotional comfort,the sense of motivation,and the touching and weeping experiences.Based on the results of the pre-study,this paper combined the communication scale with the intercultural communication scale to quantify the influence of the media-film on improving intercultural communication competence and intercultural sensitivity(N=352).The hypothesis that cross-cultural sensitivity will be affected and improved by viewing film works from different cultural backgrounds is preliminarily verified.
