In western countries,reading fluency training in English is seen as a way for native English-speaking children to develop language skills.Domestic research on reading fluency is still in its infancy,most of which focuses on theoretical aspects.There are fewer empirical studies on reading fluency in the Chinese classroom environment.And most of fluency training research is on the effects of reading fluency training on English reading comprehension.No studies have focused on the impact of reading fluency training on other language ability and nonlinguistic results(such as English learning self-efficacy and learning motivation).Then,will reading fluency training change significantly students'attitude towards reading fluency training,English learning motivation,English learning self-efficacy,and general English self-concept?To what extent are they changed?How is the relation between them?This study conducted a 14-week empirical study in a high school in Sanming,Fujian Province with the reading fluency training attitude questionnaire,the English learning motivation questionnaire,the genera! English self-concept questionnaire and the English learning self-efficacy questionnaire as research tools to examine students9 attitudes toward training and changes in their emotions before and after reading fluency training.The results showed that reading fluency training can significantly improve students'English learning motivation,general English self-concept and English learning self-efficacy,and students'psychological acceptance of the training was very high.Through this training,students'self-confidence in English learning was improved.It also strengthened the motivation to learn English,so students took a positive attitude towards the experiment.Among these three nonlinguistic results,English learning self-efficacy had a radiation effect on English learning motivation and English self-concept.Fluency training has fundamentally changed English learning self-efficacy,which in turn enhanced students'English learning motivation and general English self-concept.This study combined reading fluency and nonlinguistic results and provided new ideas and research directions for future English teaching.
