The Tension Of Socialist Realism

Lu Xun's pursuit of the "real" in his realistic literary concept has had a profound impact on the emergence of China's "Socialist Realism".Inspired by Lu Xun's"Individualism",Hu Feng constantly improved the realistic theoretical system represented by the writer's“Subjective Fighting Spirit",and at the same time tried to call upon writers to go deep inside the people and discover the "Spiritual Enslavement Wounds" they shoulder.It provided the theoretical basis for the theory of "Neutral Characters" put forward by Shao Quanlin in the 1950-1960s.Although Hu Feng's realism system and the legitimacy of the "Neutral Characters" in the creation have finally been oppugned by revolutionary discourse system,it cannot be ignored that the scholars led by Lu Xun and Hu Feng have once again challenged the established rules as the development of socialist realism has injected a steady stream of momentum.
