With the development of economic Globalization and contemporary information society,reading is ubiquitous as the main way for people to obtain information.Reading,as a universal cognitive activity,is widely used to obtain information from the press,books and a large number of fragmented network resources.Meanwhile,reading does play a significant role in broadening the reader's own knowledge and enhance their own cultural literacy,so does English reading,an important information input channel for English learning.That is to say,the students ' comprehensive English ability depends largely on their English reading ability.As far as the English paper of 2018 college Entrance Examination is concerned,the whole paper consists of 8 texts,with a full volume of 150 points,while 95 scores are determined by the English reading to obtain information and processing information.Based on this,the cultivation of English reading ability can effectively improve students' “English performance and reading level”.What's more,"China's Standards of English Language Ability " and "New Curriculum Standard" also put forward new requirements for English reading and teaching nowadays.In addition,the relevant research shows that through the cultivation of students 'reading strategies,students' reading ability and reading achievement can be highly and effectively improved.Based on this,the purpose of this study is to solve the specific problems in the process of reading,and to develop students critical thinking ability while improving their reading achievement,reading ability and reading accomplishment through this action research.The students making up of 20% potential English students who is not only lacking in the proper use of reading strategy but their English achievements remain to be enhanced has taken three test results before,and are bound to carry out the questionnaire on the use of reading strategies.Thus,the action class is formed based on the investigation of students' specific problems,whose aim is to solve the target reading problems,thus improving students' reading ability.At the same time,the paper taken from College Entrance Examination English test paper has high reliability and validity.Above all,the research problems of this action research are established as follows:(1)What is the current situation of the use of reading strategies for Senior3 students with learning difficulties?(2)Can the reading strategy training activate the student's awareness of applying reading strategies when reading,thus improving their reading achievement?This action study adopts the research method of qualitative and quantitative research,determining the specific problems existing in the reading process and the relatively weak in using reading strategies in the view of the Reading strategy questionnaire and the Reading Achievement test results,as well as the feedback of the interview.The corresponding plan and implementation are formulated by two rounds of the concrete implementation process of action research: the first round of action research is to form reading habits,cultivate the student's awareness of using reading strategy and train their specific reading strategies.In response to feedback from the first round of action research,the second round of action research focused on training students to properly select the reading strategies according to different reading materials,and to cultivate students' ability to read fast and develop their critical thinking while reading.From the qualitative and quantitative point of view of analysis,the research shows that the students' ability to use reading strategies,their reading competence,as well as their critical thinking ability have been significantly improved.The cultivation of reading strategies for students with learning difficulties,is indeed helpful to establish their self-confidence in English learning,promote their reading performance and improve their reading competence.Meanwhile,the author hopes that this study can have a certain enlightening effect on high school teachers engaged in the first-line teaching and English learners.According to the research conclusions of this action study,the author puts forward the following suggestions: Teachers should change the concept of reading teaching in time,strengthen the guidance of learning law.Second,teachers should respect students' individual differences and teach their aptitude.Third,teachers should guide students to read more authentic reading materials in their spare time.Fourth,Teachers should integrate reading strategy teaching into routine reading teaching.Last but not least,the teaching of reading course should lay solid emphasis on cultivating students' critical thinking ability.
