English writing as one of the important skills has received more and more attention in China's English learning,which reflects students',intellectual structure,psychological activity and basic cultural awareness.So,the cultivation of students'writing ability is an urgent problem to solve in current senior high school English teaching.The process-genre approach has developed rapidly in foreign countries and been applied in China nowadays.However,relevant empirical researches are not enough to verify the effectiveness of this approach.In the current English teaching,many teachers think that writing teaching is a task which needs takes up too much time in class.Another problem is that students have no interests in writing,even refuse to write a composition.The research of this study aims to verify the effectiveness of the process-genre approach.It hopes to improve students' writing ability so as to improve their interests in English writing.The thesis aims to explore the effectiveness of applying the process-genre approach in senior high school English writing and design two research questions:1.What are the effects of the process-genre approach on senior high school students in writing?2.What are the changes of students',attitude towards English writing after applying the process-genre approach?An experiment was carried out in this study,where the process-genre approach was carried out in the experimental class,while traditional approach was adopted to the control class.The subjects are two classes of Grade Two in a senior high school in Shenyang.The pre-test and the post-test,the interviews and questionnaires are employed.After the examination,through SPSS 22.0,a statistical software,the researcher analyzed the students' scores in the pre-test and post-test.Research findings show that a great change in students' attitudes towards English writing after applying the process-genre approach and the writing scores are improved greatly in the experimental class.
