As a new way of English vocabulary learning,‘Learning English Vocabulary by Keyboarding'(LEVK)is a combination of modern computer technology and English teaching.LEVK combines English vocabulary memorizing with computer keyboard typing,making learners use eyes,ears,fingers and other organs in the learning process,and enhancing the specificity of processing information.The keyboarding task enables students to pay more attention to the actions of input characters in addition to the definition,pronunciation,spelling and other information of vocabulary,greatly increasing the processing amount of detailed information,thus effectively improving the effect of vocabulary memory.This study makes an in-depth exploration of the application of LEVK in English classroom teaching,discusses the theoretical basis of LEVK,and summarizes the research status of combining keyboarding with language learning at home and abroad.Through the summary and analysis of the previous studies,in order to explore the effect of combining LEVK with English classroom teaching,this study designed a quasi-experiment,using the pre-test and post-test quasi-experiment form of different groups.The experimental study selected 69 students from two classes of grade one in a secondary vocational school in Shanghai as experimental subjects.Among them,the experimental class has 35 students,including 30 boys and 5 girls.There are 34 students in the control class,all of them are boys.The experimental class adopted the LEVK method,and the control class adopted the traditional learning method.A4-month comparative experimental study was conducted,and the teaching content was the first-grade textbook of Shanghai Oxford English high school.In addition,through literature survey,questionnaire survey,student interview and other methods,combining qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis,this paper comprehensively discusses the influence of LEVK on students' English vocabulary memorization effectand English learning attitude,as well as students' satisfaction with the application of LEVK in English teaching.According to the empirical research data and relevant analysis of this study,the research conclusions are as follows:(1)After the teaching experiment,the students who learned English vocabulary by LEVK method were significantly better than the students who learned vocabulary by using the traditional way,indicating that LEVK method could effectively improve the students' vocabulary memorization effect;(2)After the teaching experiment,students who used LEVK method for English vocabulary learning showed significantly higher interest and motivation intensity than those who used the traditional memorization method,indicating that LEVK method could effectively enhance the interest and motivation intensity of students in English learning;(3)Students hold a relatively positive attitude towards LEVK method on the whole.They agreed that LEVK method could improve their efficiency of memory as well as their interest and involvement in learning,indicating that students were generally satisfied with LEVK method.At last,some constructive suggestions are given based on the above conclusions,in order to provide some references for future studies on LEVK.
