| This translation project is composed of two parts.In the first part,Gnomic Verses on Fire and Gnomic Verses on Wind,which are Tibetan gnomic verses,are translated into English.In the second part,a translation report is written based on the translation process.It is definitely necessary to translate Tibetan gnomic verses.Tibetan gnomic verses are the concentration of Tibetan people wisdom and the crystallization of Tibetan culture.Its translation activities and translation quality are exceedingly conductive to make the transmission of Tibetan culture in a rapider and wider way.The first part briefly introduces the background of the task,the content of the task,the significance of the task,the structure of the task and the requirements of the task.The second part describes the process of translation: preparation for translation tools,the choice of translation theory,the making of translation plan,the treatment of emergencies and post-translation work.Guided by the principle of faithfulness and equivalence,the third part emphatically analyzes the translation cases of gnomic verses.The fourth part summarizes post-translation effect,related thinking in translation practice,inspiration and prospect for future work.In the paper,the author aims to explore the translation methods of Tibetan Gnomic Verses and tries to provide reference for solving similar problems.This translation practice is the author’s first attempt to translate gnomic verses.The author translated Gnomic Verses on Fire and Gnomic Verses on Wind in the guidance of Principle of Faithful Equivalence put forward by Li Zhengshuan.The author harbors the wishes that this translation practice not only help the translation practice of gnomic verses in the future,but also help foreign scholars have a deepening understanding to Tibetan culture.And the author also wishes her translation skills can be improved and she can accumulates experience by translating these Tibetan gnomic verses. |
