In the English Curriculum Standard of General Senior High School issued by the Ministry of Education in 2017,it is clearly pointed out that language skills are composed of listening, speaking, reading, writing and viewing, among which writing,as an expressive skill,is a significant index to measure students' language proficiency. In a writing, vocabulary is the most basic unit, but the list of individual words can not fulfill the need of expression,it needs to be collocated with other words to convey meaning. The problem of lexical collocation has always been the focus of scholars at home and abroad. It also has been a problem that high school English teachers want to solve. And English teachers in senior high school make efforts to help students, for Chinese students in high school often make collocation errors in English writing.Based on this situation, this study aims to solve three problems:(1)What kinds of lexical collocation errors do senior high school students commit in their English writing?(2)What are the differences of lexical collocation errors in different grades?(3)What are the causes of lexical collocation errors in senior high school students' English writing? After analyzing these three problems, the author will give some advice to the senior English teachers according to the causes. This study collects 300 writing materials of students from the school where the author works to build a corpus, using Hausmanns' classification of six kinds of lexical collocations as the standard, based on error analysis theory, interlanguage and contrastive analysis. In the judgment of collocation errors, the author refers to the Corpus of Contemporary American and the Oxford Dictionary. In error retrieval, the author uses AntConc3.4.4 to retrieve six collocation errors. The research results show that there are 542 lexical collocation errors made by students of three grades in all, among which 232 errors in grade one,164 errors in grade two,and 146 errors in grade three. That is to say,the number of lexical collocations errors committed by students decreases with the increase of grade. In terms of the types of lexical errors, verb and noun collocation errors possess the maximum number of 250,and there is no significant difference in the number of verb and noun collocation errors committed by the three grades students. From Senior one to Senior three, the number of verb and noun collocation errors are 85,84 and 81 respectively. Then there were 110 collocation errors in nouns and verbs, including 61 in Senior one,27 in Senior two and 22 in Senior 3.After chi-square test, the three grades have significant differences in such errors. In addition, the misuse of parts of speech and misuse of synonyms are the most frequent among the six categories of lexical collocation errors. The causes of lexical collocation errors can be divided into intralingual errors, interlingual errors and other factors including teachers and students.
