The Research Of The Development Of New Chinese Verbs

As the most unstable part of vocabulary,verbs are the easiest to change with time.The study of verb changes is of great significance to the Chinese vocabulary system and needs to be taken seriously.This thesis selects the new verbs in the new dictionary of words as the research object,it is divided into two periods:the first period is from 1978(the year of the promulgation of reform and opening policy)to 1994,the second period is from 1995 to 2017.We will conduct a diachronic analysis to explore the synchronic features of Chinese new verbs which are different from other types of words in form,function and meaning.Based on the relevant theories of cognitive linguistics,this paper explores the cognitive clues of new verbs,based on the traits of new verbs and cognitive clues,makes a preliminary prediction of the development of new verbs,and makes a more comprehensive study of new verbs in Chinese,in order to enrich the study of Chinese vocabulary corpus,and the application development of Chinese vocabulary.Through comparative research,it is found that in the development of new verbs,the two-syllable verbs still dominate,the monosyllabic verbs grow slowly,the three-syllable verbs show an expansion trend.But the verbs are different from other new words,and the verbs exclude polysyllabic words above the three-syllables.The phenomenon of new verb word group exists in large numbers.Due to the influence of word length,the unified morphemes in the word group are basically monosyllabic words.The entry of non-Chinese factors into new verbs has become an irresistible trend.From the point of view of meaning,new verbs have not only filled the empty space of Chinese semantic field,but also created new vacancies.New and old new verbs show patterns of replacement and coexistence in the semantic field.The new verbs are rich in the color meaning.The connotation limit is reduced,and the connotation extension is expanded.From the perspective of function,the new verbs mainly satisfy the needs of social development and reflect the psychology of the speaker,but the development cannot be separated from the economic principles that the vocabulary itself follows.The category hierarchy theory of cognitive linguistics explains the rationale of the new verb term length.Relying on the concept category model can explain the cognitive process of the polysyllabic harmony in the new verbs.The new verbs use metaphors to make the new words more vivid and meaningful through the mapping process bet,ween the two domains,which is an important reason for the popularity of the new verbs.According to the law of new verb development and its cognitive rationale,we predict the form,meaning and function of new verbs,and infer the form of new verbs that may appear.By predicting,we can make some normative guidance on new verbs that may appear in advance.
