The Conflict Between Technology And Morality In Hollywood's Dystopian Sci-Fi Films In 21st Century

As a popular form of literature and art,which is widely received,has strong dissemination power,and is especially popular among young people,Hollywood dystopian sci-fi films in the 21 st century is a good expression of dystopian ideas and images through specific themes.While expressing the concept of dystopian ideas,these films provide humans with imaginations of the myriad possibilities of future society and reflections on current social behaviors.This paper takes Hollywood dystopian sci-fi films in the 21 st century as the research object,analyzes the conflict between technology and morality in these films,thinks deeply about how the Development of Science and Technology and moral Ethics can develop together in the Future Society,in order to play an educational role in the display and discussion of science and technology and moral conflicts through dystopian sci-fi films.The main part of the thesis is divided into three chapters.In the first chapter,from the perspective of theoretical background,the author expounds the development process of the utopian thought,the background and the connotation of the dystopian thought,and introduces the influence of dystopian thought on literature and art,especially film creation.The second chapter of the paper classifies Hollywood dystopian sci-fi films in the 21 st century based on the theme.These films mainly include five major themes,including the end of the day/ after the end of the world,artificial intelligence,human cloning/ copying people,biochemical experiments,other scientific and technological means.In the third chapter,through the analysis of the representative work of Hollywood dystopian sci-fi films in the 21 st century,this paper expounds the conflicts between science and technology and morality embodied in these films.These conflicts mainly include dissimilation of human nature caused by confusion of man-machine relationship,the fall of animal ethics caused by human centers,trample on the value of life,the fall of liberalism under totalitarian control.At the same time,through the depiction of these conflicts,these films also express the reflection on the human society and the warning to the human being,in which the positive values revealed also enlighten the contemporary society.
