According to the Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards(2017),the focus of English teaching in junior middle schools is to improve students' ability to acquire information,process information,analyze problems and solve problems in English,especially to train students' ability to think and express in English.Writing is an important way to cultivate students' thinking and expressing ability.However,current students' writing ability is generally weak.In addition to the students' own reasons,the current English teaching methods should also have some problems.Therefore,it is necessary to ameliorate the English teaching methods in junior middle schools.And based on Krashen's Input Hypothesis Theory and Swain's Output Hypothesis Theory,the author tried to use the teaching method of “reading and writing integration” to explore whether it could improve junior middle school students' English writing level.The research questions are:1.What are the present situation and problems of junior high school students' English writing?2.How should the teaching method of reading and writing integration be conducted?3.What is the practical effect of the Reading and Writing Integration to junior high school students' English writing level?The author carried out a semester experiment on 86 students in two parallel classes of Grade 2017 in Luokou Experimental School,Tianqiao District,Jinan City(2018.9-2019.1).One of the two classes is the experimental class and the other is the control class.The experimental class adopted the teaching method of reading and writing integration.The control class is taught in accordance with the usual teaching methods.The main research methods used in this experiment are questionnaire survey,interview,pretest and post-test.The author found that reading first and then writing as a whole could effectively integrate the original independent reading and writing.After this experiment,most students from EC could grasp the vocabulary,sentence patterns and the structure of the text.The higher-level students could use complex sentences and gradually integrate their ideas into their writing.And Students with lower levels have also made corresponding progress in vocabulary,sentence patterns and structures.More importantly,students' interest,autonomy and cooperation in English writing have been greatly improved in EC.The experiment shows that the teaching method of reading and writing integration could be used to improve students' writing ability.
