| Reading is an important form of language input and it is also a significant approach to acquiring language knowledge and gaining useful information.Thus,reading teaching is the core of English teaching in senior high school.However,the effect of reading teaching is far from satisfaction,which attracts educators’ great attention from the field of English teaching in our country.They have spared effort to do relevant researches in search of scientific and effective methods to enhance the reading teaching.Based on Input Hypothesis and Output Hypothesis,this thesis is intended to discover the effects of the Integration of Reading and Writing on senior high school students’ English reading.Three questions will be discussed in this thesis:(1)What effects does the Integration of Reading and Writing have on senior high students’ reading achievements?(2)What effects does the Integration of Reading and Writing have on senior high school students’ interest and habits of English reading?(3)What effects does the Integration of Reading and Writing have on senior high school students’ reading strategies?An experiment was implemented in the research.94 students from two regular classes in Senior One of NO.2 Senior High School in Jinning participated in this experiment.The experiment lasted for four months in the experimental class.At first,a pretest was carried out to evaluate the reading ability of participants.Then the teaching experiment with the Integration of Reading and Writing was carried out for four months.During the course of the experiment,based on the students’ cognitive level and the characteristic of the discourse,a series of relevant writing tasks are designed,such as imitative writing,continuation,adaption,abbreviation.A post-test was carried out last so as to access the outcome.Questionnaires and interviews were used as supplementary instruments to evaluate students’ reading interest,habits and strategies.The qualitative and quantitative research methods are applied to analyze the results.By comparing the data of the pre-test with post-test in the experiment,the author can conclude that the Integration of Reading and Writing is an effective way to improve senior high school students’ reading achievements.Besides,the analysis of the questionnaire and interviews on the Integration of Reading and Writing shows that this reading teaching method aroused students’ interest,changed students’ reading habits and enhanced their reading strategies.This study brings some implications to us.First of all,the teacher could integrate reading with writing and design some relevant writing tasks to deepen students’ comprehension of reading materials.What’s more,the teacher should instruct the students to master the reading strategies.Finally,the students should be inspired to read as much as possible to form a good habit of reading. |
