"Sound landscape" has become a term used by many scholars and musicians to describe different aspects of the music environment.Locating a sound landscape requires a music performance to express its existence. We need to collect a series of additional information of sound, background and meaning to better understand a sound landscape."National orchestral music" has been established and developed steadily in many universities since the 1950 s.According to the traditional paradigm of music anthropology, this paper observes and analyzes the student ethnic orchestra of zhengzhou university and Shanghai normal university, focusing on the discussion and comparative study of campus culture and performance institutions around the issues of "orchestra development","live performance" and "music selection".The theoretical framework discussed in this paper is based on the background-sound-meaning triad mode in Soundscapes-Exploring Music in a Changing world.3rd Ed.It is mainly divided into five chapters: chapter one elaborates on the framework of tripartite model theory used in this paper.Chapter 2,chapter 3 and chapter 4 describe the background and sound related issues of the two schools as insiders and outsiders respectively.Chapter five discusses the significance of the comparison between the two and explores the future development of ethnic orchestral music in colleges and universities from the perspective of insiders.
