A Study On The Application Of Conceptual Metaphors In Preposition Chinese Translation

Cognitive linguistics research shows that metaphor is not only a means of rhetoric,but also a way of thinking,which is an important means to form the human conceptual system.Meanwhile,the frequency of the using English Prepositions is much higher than that of nouns,verbs,adjectives and so on.Although prepositions are function words,they also assume important functions both in grammar and in expressing the meaning.This paper mainly discusses how prepositions like "in","behind","beyond","under" and "on" change their space meanings into metaphorical meanings through image-schematic structure,the process of which also makes psychological cognition analysis applied to translation practice in a gesture to better figure out the subtle differences among word meanings to make translation closer to the original meaning,making a better version.
