A Study Of Narrative Rhetoric In Zuozhuan From The Perspective Of New Historicism

The academic basically believe that Zuozhuan is the first chronicle of Chinese narrative in detail.It is not only an important document recording the historical period of Spring and Autumn,but also has a high value of literary research.At the same time,as the interpretation of Chunqiu,it implies the value appeal of the traditional annotations given by rhetoric.How do you understand the multiple nature of Zuozhuan? What is the key role of the narrative of Zuozhuan? Although the study of traditional Chinese literature and history has achieved fruitful results,most of the researches explore the stylistic nature from the perspective of character description,the overall characteristics of the text or a narrative perspective,and stand on the footsteps of pursuing the historical events themselves.There is an absence of theoretical and in-depth analysis of the language construction features.This paper tries to take the narrative and its multiple nature in Zuozhuan as the object of study,according to the inner path of "the emptiness of literature-the reality of history-the truth of the interpretation of classics",and combining the latest research results of Zuozhuan in Chinese and Western academic circles,with the help of the perspective of New Historicism and other Western theories,to analyze the deep structure of Zuozhuan's narrative in a comparative perspective.Following this train of thought,the text is divided into three chapters:The first chapter cuts into the study of the narrative features of Zuozhuan in the form of literature.Firstly,it analyzes the three aspects of narrative perspective,narrative time,and discourse metaphor mode from the macro level,so as to investigate the process of plot construction and the significance of Narrative Evolution in Zuozhuan.Then by selecting the common cultural symbols in the Spring and Autumn Period,explore the effect of the inherent tension of literary texts from the reality and the dialogue.The second chapter analyzes the historical narrative concept of Zuozhuan in thefield of historiography.As a historical work,Zuozhuan reflects the mainstream paradigm of Chinese classical compilation tradition.Although Chunqiu is a historical book of the Spring and Autumn Period,the concise generalization is not enough to express the truth of history.The three biographies of Chunqiu derived from it construct the historical truth with detailed brushwork.Among them,Zuozhuan's speech construction contains rich literary elements and has always been praised.This chapter reveals the historical narrative concepts implied in Zuozhuan by analyzing its literariness and authenticity.The third chapter focuses on the nature of the interpretation of Zuozhuan,deeply thinking about and exploring the relationship between rhetoric and power in Zuozhuan.Zuozhuan was different from Chunqiu at the beginning of its formation.It was pushed forward by the efforts of Confucian scholars in the Han Dynasty to study the history of Confucian classics.This chapter takes Zuozhuan into the official school dispute as the center,and traces back to the struggle of Confucianists for the right to interpret the Chunqiu.Combining the rhetoric and writing within the text,this paper also discusses the power relationship concealed on the surface of Zuozhuan's discourse.
