On Gadamer's Second Lvel Historicism

The relationship about Gadamer and relativism is a very important issue,and Gadamer's second level historicism is a key to this issue.Some researchers criticize Gadamer as a kind of relativism,but Gadamer argued specifically in his theory of the second level historicism that historic is not the obstacle of truth but the condition of it's possibility.Actually,the reason about why post researchers can't understand this second level historicism is because that they can't understand the level difference between the first level historicism and the second level historicism rightly,so they will always retrogress to the first level historicism stealthily and take it as a standard to measure the second level historicism.To know this second level historicism better,this paper will resort to the form partition of historicism.It argues that the level difference between the first level historicism and the second level historicism is not the difference between epistemology and ontology but the difference between two different kinds of ontology.The first level historicism is based on the ontology of substantialism,which seems object and subject both as things ready-to-hand,and seem historic as their ready attribute.Among the first level historicism,the one which attribute the objectivity of historical knowledge to the object is called the historical objectivism,represented by Vicco,Schleiermacher and Ranke;and the one which attribute the objectivity of the historical knowledge to the subject is called the purified historicism,presented by Dyrosen and Dilthey.Because of the ontology misplacement,the first level historicism has to understand the objectivity of historical knowledge in the way which natural science dose,and so got itself stuck with the crisis of historicism.To overcome this crisis,Gadamer put his second level historicism to the Existence ontology of Dasein which is illuminated by Heidegger.Here,historic is seemed as a transcendental concept,it means one foundamental existence of Dasein.And only this can explain that why historic is the condition of truth.Basing on this form partition,this paper divided into four parts.(1)The introduction part is mainly about the study summarization at home and abroad.And I will give my form partition of historicism based on this summarization.(2)Chapter one is about the historical objectivism.I will talk about the objectivity of the historical objectivism,summarize the main idea of it's three representatives,and clarify the location of historical objectivism.(2)Chapter two is about the purified historicism.I will demonstrate it's two representatives,Droysen and Dilthey,and indicate that though the purified historicism had noticed the historic of the subject,but it failed to touch the ontology foundation of the first level historicism.(4)Chapter three is about the second level historicism.I will consider about the ontology basis of the second level historicism,clarify the first level historicism from this second level historicism,and talk about the epistemology thoughts which is given in this second level historicism by Gadamer.
