Research On Lingchi In Qing Dynasty

The thesis focuses on Lingchi(??)in Qing Dynasty.This thesis first made clear the text of law on Lingchi in Qing Dynasty.Then it explored how Qing bureaucracy deal with criminals who were suppose to sentenced to Lingchi penalty.It used about500 cases to prove how Qing government punish Lingchi criminals.The rebels,people who murdered three members or more of one family,and people who murdered their Fuzhi(??)relatives stipulated by law and Li(?)will all be punished with Lingchi.However,the Emperor,Criminal Department and other officers can change the trials according to specific situations.The text of Lingchi law shows major changes of Qing China,territorial expansion,rebellions,and specific cases can all change the Lingchi law.Since Lingchi crimes are all severe for the society and regime,Qing bureaucracy can solve Lingchi cases in a short time,there is an organized and efficient judicial system to deal with serious cases like Lingchi crimes.
