| English teaching for senior middle school students is the critical stage where students’ linguistic ability are facilitated.Students’ initial linguistic basis are formed through the language training in both primary school and secondary school.in senior middle school,on the one hand,students continue to lay a solid foundation and be well prepared for the university study.I have been engaged in teaching English in rural high school for lots of years.knowing clearly that the stage of high school is of great significance to the development of linguistic ability.main task of English language learning is cultivate Students’ four linguistic skills of listening、 speaking 、reading and writing,which is also the target of English teachers.In the course of English teaching,I find writing is least attached importance to by teachers and students.Teachers are reluctant to give lessons of English writing for a variety of reasons.Some give reasons that writing activity is boring and there is no effective teaching ways,others hold that they need teach nothing in English writing lessons,and English writing is entirely done by students alone.Students shoe no interest in writing on account of the difficulties including choice of vocabulary、 phrase and sentence writing contents of the article、 structure of the article.they think hard about writing for a long time but fail to compose one.Even if they create one,it is full of mistakes.As a result,Students fear writing increasingly and even hate English writing.Eventually losing interest in it completely.The traditional way of teaching English writing has long been adopted in my school: first,teachers present writing task.second,students complete the writing at given time.Third,suggested writing is shown.finally excellent writing are selected and read to all students.both teachers and students are tired of the traditional way,which leads to low efficiency of teaching and learning.teachers and students are both unsatisfied.How can teachers give writing lessons efficiently? What can we do to make students learn English writing with enthusiasm and great pleasure?how can students be motivated to work on writing full of interest and desire?hoe can students writing ability be improved to the great extent?how can teachers be engaged in teaching writing,feeling pleased and relaxed,so that both sides get a good harvest?in my view,the theory of cooperative study is the solution to all these questions.Teachers apply this theory in English teaching,which improve the social and physiological atmosphere inside the class.Most students also benefit from the theory in raising their grades.the functions of the cooperative study are as follows: 1.develop teamwork spirit 2.cultivate the sense of innovation 3.foster the idea of competitiveness 4.facilitate the concept of equality 5.inspire positive study cooperative study is specially stated in the report about the reform and development of basic education by the state council.The report encourages cooperative study so that students will make great progress by communicating one another,besides,teachers raise their teaching levels.I make use of the theory to give writing lessons with the hope that the theory can make contributions to the improvement of English writing for high school students,also,I will find out the problems in applying the cooperative study theory and overcome them.The research is made in two ordinary classes,grade two in my school.in writing class,traditional teaching way is used in the class as comparison while the cooperative study is adopted in the experimental class.By continuous experiment,with the methods of pre-test and post-test in addition to the questionnaire,I would like to confirm the following speculations: 1.students are aware of his advantages and disadvantages in English writing 2.students can form the framework of the writing and cultivate their excellent thinking ability of English writing 3.students get a large harvest in such aspects as vocabulary sentence writing the design of contents the structure of the writing so that they can improve English writing all around.This thesis consists of 6 chapters: the first chapter involves the background aim and significance of the research.The second illustrate the latest fruits of the cooperative study by scholars both at home and abroad by means of comparison and analysis,exploring the practical application of the theory in high school English writing teaching.The third chapter is concerned with the linguistics related to the research.The fourth chapter empirical study concerns implementation of the research plan.The fifth chapter deals with the analysis of the questionnaire after the research,the comparison between the grades of pre-test and post-test.Besides,the significance and effects of application of cooperative study will be summed up by means of analyzing the changes in English writing.The last chapter is mainly about the sum-up of advantages and disadvantages of cooperative study while it is applied to writing teaching.in the meanwhile,the shortcomings exposed in the research will be presented and advice will be given on the follow-up research. |
