Research On The Liang Shuming’s Philosophy Of Life

At the beginning of the 20 th century,the Chinese nation face multiple problems both at home and abroad,the enthusiasm of the revolution has not disappeared yet,a new round of national crisis pushed people into mental confusion and pain.The traditional worldview and outlook on life of Chinese have been overturned,and the traditional culture also faces the scrutiny and criticism by the new age.In this thought mire,everyone is eager to catch a life-saving straw.The Modern New Confucianism believes that the national crisis in China is actually a cultural crisis,and the destruction of traditional morality is the root cause of China’s backwardness.Therefore,it is necessary to start studying with the philosophy of life;saving the national crisis is the premise of complete reconstruction of modern philosophy of life.As the first person of Modern New Confucianism,Liang Shuming actively advocates the politics of national salvation "culture",continued the life philosophy of Confucius,contributing to the realization of the revival of Confucianism.It is worth mentioning that,different from other scholars,Liang Shuming as knowledge of the doer,all his achievements in philosophy just start from two simply problems: the problem of human life and the problem of Chinese society.In this article,I try to reveal Liang Shuming’s philosophy of life,the unique way of thinking and the rationality and limitations of this way of thinking,which belongs to the modern new Confucian.The full paper is divided into four parts.The first chapter is the part of introduction,which introduces the research ideas and methods of this paper,and the significance of Liang Shuming’s philosophy of life.This is an overview of the research on Liang Shuming’s philosophy by scholars from home and abroad since the 1980 s.The second chapter describes the background and the source of theory of Liang Shuming’s philosophy of life.To properly understand Liang Shuming’s philosophy of life,we must understand the background of his generation and his life experience.The main theory of Liang Shuming’s life philosophy is Confucianism,if we want to understand his philosophy of life,we must have a clear position of his reinterpretation of the Confucianism.Liang Shuming mainly inherited the Chinese traditional Confucian lu wang school,and also absorbed the life ontology of Buddhism and the French philosopher Bergson.In a sense,his philosophy of life is the product of the fusion of Chinese and western thoughts.The third chapter summarizes the changes and main contents of Liang Shuming’s philosophy of life.According to his various representative works and life practice,we explore the substance of his philosophy.Although he has different thoughts and practices in different periods,his philosophy of life has always been the product of his care of life and value.This is also the root cause about the changing from the original Buddhist thought to the Confucianism which is more suitable Chinese society.The last chapter is the overall evaluation of Liang Shuming’s philosophy of life.I not only summarized the characteristics of Liang Shuming’s philosophy of life,but also analyzed the significance of Liang Shuming’s philosophy of life,and discussed the limitations of his philosophy of life in this chapter.
