Zhang Heng was an outstanding scientist and writer in the Eastern Han Dynasty. He not only made outstanding contributions in the field of science, but also attained very high attainments in the field of literature. He was listed as the ‘ Four Great Masters of Han Fu' together with Sima Xiangru,Yang Xiong and Ban Gu.Zhang Heng has written a lot in his life. His works cover many disciplines such as literature, astronomy, calendar and so on.His achievements in literature are mainly manifested in his poems and fu.His achievements are closely related to his political environment, social life, cultural background and personality characteristics. In order to explore the relationship between Zhang Heng's unique psychological world and his literary achievements, the author makes a thorough and meticulous study of Zhang Heng's biography and works. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, this paper is divided into four parts to discuss:The first part analyses the social situation and ideological origin of Zhang Heng.Zhang Heng lived in the early and middle Eastern Han Dynasty.During this period, powerful landlord forces gradually formed in economy, and eunuchs and foreign relatives took turns in politics.Ideologically, since the mid-Western Han Dynasty,Confucianism's exclusive ideological and cultural position has developed into a complementary pattern of Confucianism and Taoism, and some scholars' mentality has also changed from active accession to passive avoidance of the world. The second part mainly analyses Zhang Heng's personality characteristics.Zhang Heng was smart and diligent since childhood.Zhang Heng's life was greatly influenced by Yang Xiong. He admired Yang Xiong and pursued immortality. On this basis,he showed calm and quiet, noble but not arrogant moral accomplishment, advocating science, ingenious creation, thoughtful and spiritual scientific attitude and fervent political feelings ofserving the court, worrying about the country and the people. The third part analyses the style of Zhang Heng's literary works.Zhang Heng's literary works have two main and secondary styles: sentiment and elegance, resentment and deep prose, and solitary expression of temperament, and simplicity and smoothness.Zhang Heng's personality, political situation and depression have many similarities with Quyuan's.Therefore, his poems and Fu are deeply influenced by Chu Ci.His poems and Fu in Erjing also contain the sense of irony in The Book of Songs Xiaoya. Therefore, his dominant literary style is summarized as ‘ both sentiment and elegance, and deep resentment'.‘ Deep Writing of Complaint' comes from Zhong Rong's evaluation of Ban Jierong's Tuan Shan Poetry in Poetry. This paper highlights the characteristics of Zhang Heng's poems expressing resentment and beautiful diction.Zhang Heng's life realm is high, his temperament is quiet, and he is influenced by Zhuangzi's thought. Therefore,he can write some poems expressing his love for nature and cherishing his husband and wife's feelings. Therefore, his secondary literary style can be summarized as‘ expressing his temperament alone, being clear and simple'.The fourth part is Zhang Heng's influence on later generations. The literary works praised and imitated by later generations are mainly returning to farmland, empathy and chorus song. These works have had a positive impact on future generations, especially Tao Yuan ming.Tao Yuanming's returning to the land and leisure sentiment are undoubtedly influenced by Zhang Heng.In this paper, through the study of The Book of the Later Han Dynasty,Zhang Heng's Biography and Zhang Heng's works, the changes of Zhang Heng's personality psychology are deeply explored from the perspective of development, and the causes of the formation of the two styles of his literary works are found out.
